Today my guest is Sarah Williams. Sarah is the host of the the Tough Girl Podcast. After working in finance for 8 years, Sarah quit her job and spent 18 months travelling the world, climbing Kilimanjaro, backpacking around South America and going skiing. She used this time to help her decide what she wanted to do with her life. Not long after, she launched her podcast.

Sarah says the mission of the podcast is motivate and inspire women and girls. On her show, Sarah has interviewed elite athletes who are training for the next Olympics, to Arctic explorers, cross channel swimmers, ultra endurance athletes as well as everyday women who have overcome extraordinary challenges.

Sarah is definitely an adventurer herself. In 2016, she was mentioned by the Guardian newspaper in the United Kingdom as one of the top 10 inspiring contemporary female adventurers. Also in 2016, she ran in the (absolutely insane) Marathon des Sables, a six-day, 156 mi ultramarathon, which is approximately the distance of six regular marathons. And right now as we speak (in June of 2017) Sarah is in the midst of her latest personal Tough Girl Challenge, hiking the Appalachian Trail, which is over 2,100 miles long, in 100 days!

On the show, we talk about Sarah’s journey from a career in finance to a lifestyle of adventure. We also talk about how and why she decided to start the Tough Girl podcast, as well as what it means to be a Tough Girl. You’ll also hear a first-hand account of what it’s like to be at the starting line of the Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert, and you’ll also find out what song they play right before the gun goes off to start the race. 🙂

If you’re looking for some awe-inspiring adventure stories and amazing insights, then tune in to today’s episode with Sarah Williams!
