Today on the podcast I wax rhapsodic on the topic of finding one's voice...or more specifically, my voice. Why are we doing what we're doing? Is it to get more likes or followers? Or is it because it's what we really think or care about? Are we asking ourselves the dream-killing question "What will they think of me?" or are we asking: "What do I think of me? What do I want to do? What do I love? What do I want to say, regardless of how popular it is, or how many likes I get or don't get?"

Hey! I found your podcast by accident – it was the bright orange square that first caught my attention and I subscribed figuring I’d check it out sometime. I skipped over it MANY times because there’s always something else to listen to and I wasn’t convinced I’d get anything from it. I did the same with the School of Greatness and Waking Up podcasts as well. My secret to having time to listen to podcasts is my youngest daughter (8th child) only naps in the pushchair/stroller. We log about 5-7 miles daily and to keep myself from going absolutely stir crazy I turned to podcasts. After the politics starting to make me even crazier, I switched to motivational and intellectual (non-political mostly) podcasts. I’ve only heard this most recent one (#59) but I enjoyed it quite a bit. I found that not only could I digest the information but I felt like I had time to reflect on it PLUS the podcast wasn’t too long.

I’m keeping a blog of my journey back into a career after my second go-round as a stay-at-home-mom and have often considered a podcast. The field seems crowded. What made you decide on that route instead of a blog only? What are your favorite podcasts?

Hi Bridget – thanks for your message and glad you enjoyed the episode. 🙂 Congrats on your blog. I decided on podcasting because I’m interested in public speaking and thought this would give me another outlet to do so. I also like the idea of connecting with other amazing people and interviewing them on the show. (I’m currently only doing solo episodes, but will likely add in some interviews in the not-too-distant future.) If you’re thinking about podcasting, a good place to start would be this tutorial from Pat Flynn of the Smart Passive Income podcast: https://www.smartpassiveincome.com/tutorials/start-podcast-pats-complete-step-step-podcasting-tutorial/. This is what I used to set up my podcast. As far as favorite podcasts, I love the School of Greatness, the Good Life Project, Smart Passive Income, Entrepreneur on Fire and Tiny Leaps, Big Changes, to name a few. Cheers!
